A Typical Weekend in Paradise

Not to make all of you jealous, but we had an amazing weekend on the beach, and we barely even left home!  Saturday we met our friends the Quinn's at Ledbetter beach for an afternoon BBQ.  I would love to say that Elliott was the life of the party, but he was super content to play by himself, and peacefully gaze at the ocean.  Here he is enjoying a chew toy with Genevieve and McKenna.

And Camryn sweetly sharing her toys with him.

He ended up "borrowing" Camryn's toy hammer and not putting it down for the rest of the evening (see it in the shadow below?).  Before he was born we joked that we were breeding a workforce to help with the home improvements.  Not that I would force him to do something just because we love it, but I won't complain if he willingly joins the party!

Steve grilled up some tasty fajitas, after a minor false start when we realized we didn't have any way to light the coals.  Who forgets to pack fire when planning a BBQ?  Apparently me.  I did at least remember to bring the cocktail shaker for the margaritas.  A quick trip to the 7-11 got us back on track.

Meanwhile, Elliott took the tool party underneath the picnic table.  Gotta love a guy who loves his tools:)

Saturday was spent cleaning out the garage (again!) during Elliott's naps.  We're starting to make room for a new half bath with built in laundry station, project start date TBD.  Or, as the Zambians would say, "The project will start just now", which means at some point in the relatively near future,  as opposed to "Now Now", which is what the impatient me likes to hear.

When Elliott woke up he took special interest in the discard pile, specifically an old box of Budwisers.  This is the most interest that box has seen in the year and a half that it has been sitting in our garage.  Poor Elliott got redirected to his toy box before he figured out how to get the cans out.

And the big accomplishment for the weekend was Elliott's first sign.  I don't know how much sign language we will teach him, but since he starts playing with his food (smacking the table, feeding the dog, etc) when he is finished eating, we decided to teach him the "all done" sign to circumvent some of the craziness.  I didn't catch it on video, but this is Elliott waving his hands, and looking so proud of himself.

Hope your weekend was spent in your own paradise!
