Elliott continues to love bath time, and beach time, so at the beginning of June we decided to enroll our water baby in baby swim class. The first time we got in the pool his eyes got wide with excitement when he realized what a big bathtub we got to play in.
Unfortunately we had to miss quite a few classes in the middle of the "swimmester" when Elliott got tubes in his ears. Notice the fancy ear plugs he's wearing? They are a happy alternative to visiting the doctor every other week for ear infections.
The first class back in the pool after our hiatus had Elliott a bit nervous. Now that he is more aware of his surroundings he's developed a mild case of stranger anxiety, and he was quite nervous when the teacher took him out of my arms to get into the pool. But once we were both in he warmed up pretty quickly, and was up to his usual antics of trying to grab and hold on to as many toys as possible. Notice him eyeing the red ball with a rubber ducky in one hand, and a bowl in the other.
The class is all about having fun in the pool while learning safety skills, like waiting to jump in until an adult says it's ok, holding on to and then pushing off the wall, pushing, and how to roll from stomach to back. At the end of every class we sing "twinkle, twinkle little star" in sea otter position (floating on his back).
And here we are trying to wave bye-bye at the end of class. It's a new trick he's learned, although tonight he was too focused on chewing on his lobster on a stick to oblige.
All in all, a great way to spend the evening:)
Looks like he's having fun! Nice ear plugs! I used to have a pair of those too.
