Here's the thing I love about being a parent - everyday is an adventure. Granted they aren't obvious or big adventures, like living in Africa, or working on an Abalone Farm, but exciting none the less.
This morning started off slower than normal at 7:30am (ugh, when did 7:30 become sleeping in?). I recently came to the conclusion that Elliott needs to start sleeping through the night. Even though he has been doing so sporadically, he has been sick so often that even at almost 10 months we aren't on a good sleep schedule yet. So starting last night I decided that I am not going to feed him in the middle of the night to reduce the incentive for mid-night waking. Being a guy that knows what he likes, he cried for almost 2 hrs straight. So sleeping in until 7:30 this morning was much needed for everyone in our family.
To let Daddy sleep a bit longer, we decided to visit my work friend Roane's garage sale where he scored a new pony (stuffed pony that is).
Elliott has become bored with the many toys that he already owns, and is always looking for something new and cool. Usually he goes for things like Reese's food and water bowls, or the annoying dust bunnies that collect in the corners. Now that mommy and daddy are on to his tricks, and keeping the floors clean, and non-baby friendly items out of reach, Elliott's new favorite toy is an old curtain rod. He spins and shakes it like he is conducting the high school band. Or following in mommy's foot steps and leading the flag team...
Elliott has decided he is too grown up for baby food, and will only eat things he can sink his (6!) teeth in to, like frozen waffles.
He's also eager to help Daddy with the home improvements... of course who doesn't think a tape measure is the #1 toy of the year for kids and adults alike?
We ended the day at happy hour with Elliott's first playmate Delilah. Her parents were in our birth class at the hospital, and she was born the day before Elliott. Delilah has amazing pointing skills which she was trying to teach Elliott, and in return he showed off his clapping skills, and waving bye-bye.
Even in the most boring of moments, Elliott's smile and sweet enthusiasm makes the day seem special and fun. Our small daily adventures make for an exciting and happy life. Wishing you many quiet and sweet adventures this weekend.
